Trying to remember how to check the network speed (i.e. 10Mbps or 100Mbps) under Win 98 (or 95). Can do it easily in XP or 2000, just struggling for 95/98. Won't be checking it myself, need to ring people and ask them. They will be of various level of computer literacy. Any ideas? Cheers.

I'm not sitting at a 98 machine to verify this, but can't you just right-click the connection indicator in the lower right-hand corner of your systray then click status? It should give you the network speed along with a few other tidbits of information. Let me know if I'm completely bonkers here.

You may be right there trip, but I'm also nowhere near a Win 98 system, which hasn't been helping!

Since I took down my old Win98 box, I've had several occasions where it would have been handy to have one around. I'll have to create a Win98 VM so I'm never without one.

Of course, loading all the service packs will be quite a chore. :P

MS didn't see fit to provide a connection indicator for networks on 95/98/ME...only an indicator for modems!
