    Hello,

Just wondering if you think that doing the Network+ will help someone pass the CCNA or that you could just do the CCNA without the infromation the N+ gives?

    Thanks

Yes, Network+ will build a good foundation of knowledge that you can use to help your CCNA studies.

Yes, you CAN pass the CCNA without first studying Net+, but why not do both, especially when the Net+ will help your CCNA studies?

Just been doing this stuff for a long time... plus, it's my job to write about certifications, so I'd better have the letters to back up the teaching, ya know? ;)

That said, with time and experience, anyone can be as certified as I am. :)

    Glad to be of assistance.

Let's split up your question into two separate questions.

    1. Will becoming Network+ certified help you become CCNA certified?
    2. Is it possible to become CCNA certified without previously being Network+ certified?

Yes, being Network+ certified will help you become CCNA certified because both certifications deals with fundamental network knowledge. Since Network+ is a CompTIA exam therefore a vendor neutral exam, Network+ will be much more general in knowledge compared to the CCNA. So general that you may find conflicting information on the internet and books. On the other hand, since CCNA is vendor specific, there's a certain depth of knowledge as well as breadth of knowledge required.

Speaking for myself, I was once CCNA certified without having being Network+ certified. To this day, I am still not Network+ certified.

    I hope this helps.

      3. Infrared
      4. Bluetooth
    5. NetBEUI
