Start with getting CCNA first. You have to be CCNA before you become a CCNP. Cisco rules, not mine.

First, the CCNP isn't one exam... it's four. I'd recommend starting with the BSCI. Here's what I'd recommend:

    1. Get some real-world experience. Assuming you have that, continue on to #2!
    2. Read through one or more CCNP study guides. I recommend Cisco Press and Sybex.
    3. Do ALL of the labs in the books you have purchased. If you don't have real Cisco routers, buy a good simulator from companies like Boson or RouterSim.
    4. If you want to see if you're ready, buy a practice exam from a high-quality practice exam provider. STAY AWAY FROM BRAINDUMPS! If you aren't sure, check here.
    5. Study the areas where you are weak, as indicated by the practice exams.
    6. Take the exam. It's as simple as that!

I'm also thinking of getting my CCNP...and I think i'll take the Cisco recomanded road: taking their courses (starting with BSCI) and after each semester i'll take the exam...hopefully in 1or2 yers i'll have it.
I started by viewing some video tutorials... check out http://www.cbtnuggets.com/ there're very good.
Also books from Cisco press and Sybex are indeed good
And as for the simulator, i recomand (aside from Packet tracer for basic stuff...) Dynamips (check out http://www.ipflow.utc.fr/index.php/Cisco_7200_Simulator and Dynagen at http://dynagen.org/ and also GNS3 http://www.gns3.net/ )

And about the work experience...hope it's not crucial for the CCNP because i don't think i'll have any by the time i want to finish CCNP.

Using Cisco's IOS in Dynamips is a violation of Cisco's licensing.

If you don't have any experience, then the certification, even if achieved, won't do you much good.
