    Hi all

I am wanting to upgrade McAfee 4.5 at work to Ver 7 and was hoping to do this using a group policy and a .MSI file, however the install media does not come with one.

I know that there is a way of creating one but cant remember how to do it.

    Can anyone help???

hmmm, now your trawling back through the memory banks...

You need to make a snapshot of a clean PC before the install, then one after the install. Think it's an .mst thats created - can't remember what sys*** tool you use.

Was that the worst answer ever given on here ?

Well, After a chat with Flex on MSN he reminded me that the file created is a .zap file, however, I have done a little searching and .mst files have been mentioned, so I am non the wiser.

    HELP

If anyone has used group policy's to roll out upgrades without an msi file please please please tell me how you did it, this would score me serious brownie points at work.

    Derek,

Use winstall le off the w2k server cd, run discoz (which is part of Winstall) for a before snapshot then install your software then run discoz again for an after snapshot. Hey presto you have an msi file deployable via group policy.
