Yup, and long enough for MS's servers not to be flooded. I have been trying to connect all day with no luck.

    Its been out for ages,

If you have a spare computer, or trial computer try it out.

Its background stuff mainly, you do need to have .NET v2 at least and the look can be tailored back to win 98 if you want. There are some major changes, admin wise, some look wise. It basically can be adapted, to what you are used to but the important side of things is that admin and support has been really changed.

Do not upgrade your computer, test first!!!!!!!!!! Before changing.

I see from the M$ site that they warn of very long delays before the download starts!

Perhaps something is timing out on your connection before the far end responds.

Well, sorry to say that I didn't have any problems with the download. I clicked the link and it started at 250Kb and then I went to bed. It was waiting for me on the desktop for me in the morning. :D

The first (and last) time I installed Vista was Beta 1 on a virtual machine. I couldn't get it to network (no Internet) so gave up with it after a couple of hours.

I just set up Beta 2 as a dual-boot to make maximum use of my graphics card and see what the fuss was over Aero. It looks good, no doubt about that. No problems networking this time, but I am still distinctly unimpressed. I found the whole user experience clunky. Everytime the "Do you want this application to run?" box came up (which starts to get annoying in itself) my screen goes black for a couple of seconds. This being Windows, two seconds is just long enough to make me think it's crashed. I hate the way the windows move, especially maximising and minimising them and I found it quite difficult to find a lot of the settings in the Control Panel - there must be thirty applets there. I'm beginning to think MS should have gone for a Windows 98 style overhaul of XP, at least the thing would have been released by now.
