In Access 97, in design view when I try to set field properties I get an error message saying 'can't open MFCANS32.DLL' what does this mean? how do I get it working again?? it never did this before. As a result it wont let me set field properties in design view.

Ant I had a similar problem with the Win16 subsystem error recently, unfortunately I can't remember the software I was having the problem with. Take a look at this KB article

    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=103104

try entering the line for dosx in your autoexec.nt it did work for me.
