hey guys, ever since i installed sp2, my system wont recognise when my mp3 player is connected to the USB hub. ive checked to make sure the cable is in place, but it just wont recognise it. i know the system is fine, cause it will recognise the printer thats plugged into the hub. and the mp3 player recognises when the cable is plugged into it, xp just wont acknowledge the player at all

Any ideas how to fix this?

    Fergal:rolleyes:

if you have the firewall on you may need to find out which port the mp3 player uses to contact the pc. Try turning the firewall off and see if it works. If it does then it could be a port thing, if not then contacting the manufacturers could help.

have you tried to reinstall any software/drivers for it? or does it just detect as a USB Mass Storage Device?

when its plugged in check Device manager for any devices that are not working correctly

nah it wasnt the firewall. the hub had stopped responding, meaning it was showing up as an unknown usb device. i completely unplugged it and its devices, and then plugged the usb hub in, made sure it was working properly, then plugged the other devices in one by one! its all going well now!

Thanks tho AJ, enjoy the expert points!

EDIT: sorry phoenix. was trying to fix it an didnt see ure post. u are more or less correct, had to reinstall the devices, after the above. but i managed to get there on my own. good advice however, thanks!
