My laptop has a broken screen and as its over £150 for a new screen i decided to ggo for the 40 quid option and get a desktop monitor and then use the laptop through that.

But even though its been working perfectly the laptop screen has reverted to using the screen it came with rather than the desktop which is then impossible to see anything. The monitor works in safe mode as thats how im typing this, it even goes through the process of booting up until it gets to the password screen, then flicks off into standby mode. I cant adjust the properties in safe mode as it just wont let me do it. Normally i would just go in and get the display mirrored etc.

    Has anyone got any ideas??

    Fn + F4 :blink?

Then change the external monitor to be the primary one?

I have been trying that but with no luck, and i even did the putting the external as my main one only and after a reboot it then started playing up.
