the maps ms are using are over 11 years old, pre 1994
if you scroll south you will notice there is no County Highway 85 south of Steven Creek Blvd, even though the area has begun to be cleared (thanks to an informed local slashdot poster)

apparantly the apple HQ used to be the HQ of another company, however the building was badly damaged in the 89 quake and raized sometime after that
