Ran memtest and it came up with no errors.

Today I went through all devices and drivers to see if they were working properly and Windows (pro) says they are.

I went through event viewer to see if I could get any info on the errors I had but with no success.

If any one has any ideas it would be much appreciated, here are a few of them: Event 1000 Fault address 0x00080163
    Event 1000 Fault address 0x0058140c
    Event 1000 Fault address 0x0000000
    Event 1000 Fault address 0x0033a5e8

I thought that it was a memory issue but as I have said memtest86 has said no errors, so is this looking like a PSU problem.

Is that the Windows event viewer output? If so, what's the Event source and Event ID?

The source was application error (oblivion), if you have seen my previous threads I have mentioned I have been having intermittant crashes when playing games on the pc.

It only happens on oblivion and has happened once on rainbow 6 vegas but has never happened on S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

I also thought it coul be the fact that I have core 2 duo prcessors and 8600gt graphics which apparently isnt compatible on a oblivion

But my PSU is a cheap (winpower) so I am just wondering if thats the sources of the crashes

not sure if this would help you but when i play bf2 i had to set the affinity to only 1 cpu as it would randomly disconnect me, close the game, and even reboot my system but after setting the affinity all problems have stopped. Auto affinity guide, its a long shot but may resolve it

If you look in your windows root folder you may find a folder called Minidump. (I say 'may' because if the o/s hasn't written any minidump files the directory will not exist, or your o/s could be configured to put them elsewhere.) If you have this directory, open it and look to see if you have any files in there, they are usually named: Minidateofcrash.dmp.

If these files exist, do they relate to the dates and times that your system crashes? If so, then you may be able to debug them and identify what is causing the crash.

Have you patched Oblivion? Have you updated your video card drivers?

If you have, I'm guessing you're crashing because you've got an incompatible video card... I don't think it's a memory error OR a PSU problem.

All games are patched with latest ones, I had considered an incompatible card, but I would have thought as these games are recent the patches would reflect the fact that there are newer CPUs and GPUs out.

Should I try a GPU test program, I have 3dMark06 never had any problems on that. Is there a one that'll test my card works well or is it that fact my card isnt compatible.

You could test your card. I can't tell you whether your card is compatible or not. Have you e-mailed Bethesda Softworks tech support (or whoever it is that created Oblivion)?

I had a look on the support forum for the game, and it claimed that that card was supported.

take a look on this site

Others seem to be experiencing crashing issues with oblivion. Mostly because of overclocking though.

Cheers for that, it does seem a similar problem but I am have nothing overclocked on my PC unless the people that built for me did something I am not aware of.

I wish I had built thing myself now.

Check the settings of the card and make sure they are all stock. I also see no reason for someone who builts pc's for people to overclock without the buyers consent but check anyways.

Have you got a PSU tester? Might be worthwhile testing the PSU if you have one, they are cheap enough on ebay if yu don't have one. Or it could simply be the incompatability problem mentioned earlier.
