memory upgrade

    I've got an ibm intellistation e 6846 I have just added some ram it had 128 but i added 2x256mb it has got 3 slots and in the manual it says you can have up to 1gig but when i added another 256 the pc kept crashing and displaying the blue screen of death can anyone suggest what I could do to increase the ram size?

    sometimes you can have problems when you mix and match different types of RAM 8)

    did you leave the 128Mb ram in when you installed the 2 256Mb ones?

    You need to match the type of RAM fairly closely. Otherwise you get just the problem you have.

    IBM machines are somewhat tricky with the upgrades I know this from experience. Like the guys said check the compatibility and try not to mix different types of memory.

    No I did'nt and all the ram is made Kingston thanks for your advice.
