Not sure if its a good move but Im skipping the 2008 upgrade exams and starting from scratch with 2012. I figure it will give me a more thourough refresh than taking the upgrades...

    Cheers for this Sparky

Good shout mate – I did the Server 2008 certs right after I finished the MCSE on Server 2003 and I’m glad I did. I think I would struggle to do them now.

I find it difficult to study for a cert knowing there is a new version whatever you are studying out there – I tried to get the Exchange 2007 cert a few weeks ago but just could not get motivated to do it knowing I hadn’t installed it in years and I was working on Exchange 2010 projects and talking about Exchange 2013\Office 365 with customers for next year.

Cheers mate, I'm glad my logic makes sense to someone else. I really like 2008 R2, it just feels to me like it is getting upgraded quickly (2008-2012), which is probably more with my life being on fast forward for having 2 kids since 2009, so I'm going to go for the newer stuff. The way my career is going I doubt I'll be solely an engineer for too many more years so I doubt anyone would ask why I don't have 2008 certs.... hopefully!
