    Hi,

Couldn't see if this had been asked before. I was just checking the Windows 7 Certification path (attached) and I was wondering, if you become an MCDST and then pass the 70-682 exam do you become an MCITP (Enterprise Desktop Support Technician 7) & an MCTS (Windows 7, Configuration)? Or is it one of the two?

    Thanks for the help.

I believe you get the MCTS for the 70-680 and the MCITP:EDST. You don't get credited with the 70-685 individually.

no 70-685 which is annoying if you go on to do the MCSA as this is needed. i say needed but why would you do the xp or vista option instead!

    Hi,

Thanks for the replies, have they deliberately made it confusing? :-)

So is the following correct, if I am an MCDST and then pass the 70-682 exam I will then also become an MCITP (Enterprise Desktop Support Technician 7), but not an MSTS?

Also, does it mean that I cannot use the MCITP for any higher certifications (MCSA, MCSE) that require it because I haven't actually taken the 70-680 prerequisite exam? Or do I get credited with any of the 70-680 or 70-685?

    Apologies for all the questions.

    Thanks,

    D

MCTS as well? Could you post a link to that or something please; I thought you just got MCITP.

Belay that request - just found confirmation elsewhere. Sweet :)

    Almost...

The 682 exam credits you for both MCTS (680) and MCITP (685), so there's no need to do it for your MCSA.

The 70-682 gives you credit for the MCTS (=680) and MCITP:EDST(=680+685). You don't get a separate credit for the 685 (which is PRO: Windows 7 EDST, not MCITP:EDST). Since the 685 is only used to "upgrade" your MCTS to MCITP:EDST there would be no need to credit it to you separately.

Anyone here done this yet? If so, how long did you take? And was it more difficult than MCDST? :)
