Depends what route you're going down in terms of work and what experience you have really - If you get the job building computers, i doubt that Windows 7 configuring is really going to be useful for it.

MS Certs are more aimed at troubleshooting the OS's and providing solutions - rather than building computers as such.

    Congrats on the pass :)

When you say building servers, do you mean actually physcially building the server with its hardware, and fixing it's hardware?

When i say "building" a server, i sort of think of it as getting it racked, install an OS, and set it up with whatever it needs to run -rather than physical maintenence as such.

    If so, check out the Server+ exam's - http://www.comptia.org/certifications/listed/server.aspx

This focus's on server hardware, but does recommend you have a bit of expiernece, so could be a good one after you've settled into your new job.

It depends on you. I had no experience apart from at home and college of using windows XP and other operating systems and it took me a month per exam but thats just me. I only used the MS press books. The only sections I found a bit hard for the 70-272 was the sections on Office because I had never really used it before. I always used Works for windows or open office.
