    Hi

I was reading here that MCDST MAY count as an elective for MCSA.
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcsa/windows2003/default.mspx

Is that true for certain? I was sure I had read the MCSA requirements before and never saw a mention of MCDST.

    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers Steve

The A+ and N+ count towards and elective for the MCSA.

I have never heard or seen of the MCDST counting towards it.

On that website, if you scroll down to the table entitled As an alternative to the electives that are listed in the Electives Table, these certifications or certification combinations may substitute for an MCSA elective, it does seem to say that the MCDST can be used as an elective instead of (for example) the A+ and Network+ combination.

    Excellent!!!

although some of the electives look interesting, so might do one anyway.

The only disadvantage (if you want to put it that way) of using the MCDST or the A+ / N+ for the MCSA elective is that neither count towards the MCSE. Other than that, they are still highly recommended before tackling the MCSA.
