Was called out the other day and after doing the job the customer asked if i could remove Mcafee from his machine because it was causing him problems

so using the uninstaller in add/remove didnt work as an error message popped up about a .UI file being missing and so the removal could not continue

tried using the mcafee disk to locate the file but it wasnt there

    safe mode didnt work either

I thought that perhaps it could be removed through the registry but im somewhat uncomfortable making changes in there

    any ideas?

There's a thread about this on the dell forum.

You could also re-install McAfee so that you can un-install it first.

    thanks for the link

also, re-installing it did not work either

had to do what the person on the dell forum did and disable it at start up as a temporary fix

couldnt get the Ccleaner program as the machine had no net access at the time
