    Hi- everybody
I have decided to start studying for an M.C.S.E as a possible
avenue to becoming a network administrator, or technician and need help and advice from anybody who has gone down this route.
In particular the most cost effective way to achieve this, the nearest exam centres to where I live and the best training materials.
If anybody can help please get back to me as soon as possible
    thanks
    SAMV

    Hi SAMV, welcome to CF!

What it sound like you are describing is Self Study, that is buying the books, setting up a home lab, and simply booking the exam when you are ready.

This is the route that many of us here have taken to our qualifications.

do you already have any study guides? If not then I can recommend the Sybex books for your studies.

Depending on you background then you may want to take the CompTIA A+ and Network+ certs to give you a soild foundation aon which to build your knowlegde.

These certs also count towards the MCSA

In terms of your local testing centre you will be able to find it through one of two exam providers, these are Prometric and VUE

    Hope this helps!

Welcome from me too, SAMV :)

Have a read around the relevant forums here for the exams you need to make up your chosen track - there's a ton of good advice and opinion out there already. Also, have a good nosey round the Training and Development forum too.

Greetings, SAMV. Welcome to CertForums. I'd have to agree and say that self-study is the most cost effective. It's not particularly easy since everything rests on your shoulders including the motivation to study and learn.
