Low Level Formats

    I just read a post about this and thought I would mention a linux tool called DBAN. It's a combination of US and Soviet military disk destruction, the contents that is. You can set it to do a quick wipe with the command "autonuke". Or you can make it write constantly for a week if you want. get it here.Windows 2000 always reports the hard disk as new after using it.

    dd if=/dev/random of=/dev/hda

    Put it in a loop if you want to churn your disk needlessly for a week.
