Well guys/gals, just wanted to say bye as I won't be pursuing any more certifications in the foreseable future. Searching the job boards has me convinced there's no demand for the new MCTS and MCITP certs and it's just too big of an investment (in terms of time) for me to make without something to gain in the end.

If things change I'll be back around. For now my certification train is off the track though.

    Cya 'round.

P.S. On the plus side, I'll be releasing new versions of some of my old shareware progs including MemPro and Shredder, completely rewritten in C#. 8)

You could still hang out. You don't have to stay of course, but this isn't a forum strictly for people actively pursuing certifications. I do a fair amount of studying but not for any sort of test (real life keeps me busy and I have to grow professionally to keep up). If you'd like, stick around. Your insights and experience are valuable. :D

As Trip said, just because you aren't persuing certs doesn't mean that you have to leave.

This place is a virtual community, and you are a part of that community. Your advice, suggestions and experiences help those who need it.

Nothing personal to anyone here, it's just right now I'm generally pissed off at the whole industry. :ohmy I know for someone as busy as you nothing may have changed, but for me things were just starting to improve when the market was killed by the H1B increase. In that past I always believed it was just coincidence that downturns in the IT job market coincided with the yearly cap increase, but after seeing the same thing happen year after year after year I now know that's what causes it.

Anyway, I'm afraid I'm not good company these days anyway. If my attitude (which is directly related to my prospects) improves I'll be back around though.

There's no demand for the new certifications yet because businesses aren't aware of them yet. Quite a large number of TECHS don't know about them yet! Be patient... they will figure it out eventually, just like they're figuring out what the heck the MCSA and MCDST are.

For the record I don't have any certs, nor do I intend to get any. Just call me a CertForums leech. ;)

I'll pop back in when I'm ready to beta test. ;) But for the record I'm strictly a contractor, so a H1B cap increase probably has more of an effect on me than, say, someone in/seeking a permanent position. It's important to note, however, that H1B workers aren't immigrants, as the propaganda-meisters would have you believe. After they're done they ALWAYS go back home with the loot! As far as economics goes that means U.S. dollars flowing OUT of the country, not coming back in.

I'll be doing all I can to support WashTech from now on.
