    Hey everyone,

I'm thinking of studying for the CCNA. I am wondering though, what sort of study do you have to do?

From reading these forums there appears to be a practical element. How do you study for that? Can it be done entirely with simulators. I'm on a very limited budget, and there's no nearby (within 50 miles) that appears to do any certification.

I have some very basic networking knowledge, and would like to basically find out what is required to do a CCNA cheaply.

Thank you for any serious replies :)

Not really, no. I've done a small amount of IT work in the past, but nothing useful.

Perhaps start with the Network+ then? It will give you the basics to networking which is a good foundation of knowledge to have before looking at Cisco certs. 8)

Thanks for that sparky. I guess I should go with the Network+. I'm thinking this is going to be expensive though

    Hi, guys.

This book looks like it would be most helpful to me too. One question though - it says on the cover that it covers the 2005 exam. Has the exam changed seriously in the past few years?

    Thanks in advance.

That's the right book for the current exam. I used that book and the Mike Meyers all-in-one to pass the exam last month.

I believe they're changing the exam next year.

    Good luck.
