    Hi all,

I'm not really a new member as such, have read the forums a lot but rarely posted. However, I am looking for some input on the direction of my future learning and I’m not quite sure where to post this

I have already attained the Comptia A+ certificate and am teaching me self (very slowly) the Network+ cert which I plan to have down by the end of August.

For the next step I was hoping to take some sort of a part time course at one of the local colleges and have recently spoken to one about the Cisco courses, however. I don't think Cisco is the way I want to go as I'm really looking at either a desktop support role or system administrator's role (plus the costs of £550 per module is a tad expensive).

I'm therefore wondering where I should go after completing the Network+ Course. Should I be looking towards an MCSA or would you recommend a different course?

Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Tim,

Welcome - even if you aren't new! :)

I would say follow the route that interests you most. I assume you want to work in the IT field? If so, the A+, Network +, MCSA route is going to teach you a broader range of skills than the CCNA.

The Cisco *stuff* is quite specialist and people working on it would already have the experience, knowledge (and possibly certified) in other areas.

    Good luck.
