yeah id like to get hold of 4074 - but im not a msdn subscriber - anyone here got a company whos a member who could 'obtain' a copy of the build?

also, i dont want to install it onto my pc, is there a way it can be installed and run from cd, much like some of the linux distros????

This isn't what you are looking for but I thought that since we were discussing Longhorn, I'd go ahead and pass along this link.

in regards to booting from CD

    no

Windows just isnt built in a manner to make that a plausable solution
some maybe able to work out a version on DVD
and Windows PE works in that manner, but its a licensed products and only used to make things like recovery CDs and such

BartsPE does somehting like this with Windows XP, but its a minimul system, not really usable, its for rescuing systems and such
