    Guys

    A couple of things

My boss has booked me onto a couple of courses at QA IQ near Liverpool St Station. Now I'm looking for a hotel to stop in for a couple of night and wondered if anyone from the Smoke could recommend a place.

Also, if anyone is around during that time and would like to hook up for a shandy or 3 then I would be delighted to meet up. :D

I ought to know, but the usual suspects are travel lodges and the like are prob your best bet, although around that area the hotels normally do rooms by the hour:eek:

Travel Lodge Liverpool St (although it's not actually Liverpool St but it's about a 5 - 7 minute walk from Old Broad St), probably about the cheapest as well.

Dawn stayed in a corker of a hotel, not sure what the hell it was called, but it was probably a bit pricey

there are a few places round there, london rates obviously! nothing stands out specifically, i just jumped on the bus home :P

Just down the alley from the QA is an awesome thai restaurant, you gotta check that out (well there was a year and a half ago, I used to work just down the road from the QA there, did my tests there all the time lol)

I can second that on the thai restaurant, it was back last March I was last there but it was great.

The QA centre isn't too bad either, done 4 courses over the last 18 months there, very impressed. Only problem is the maze to get down to the basement if you dont want to wait for the lift!

The place Pheo is referring to is the Andaz. They tend to have cheaper rates at weekends, given the area is so ghost-towny at that time.

Do. Not. Stop. At. Travelodge. Liverpool. St. Or any Travelodge, anywhere, for that matter. The Liverpool St Travelodge is literally a 14 second walk from our old offices in London, and it is HORRIBLE. It smells like old sprouts, and the "food" in the "restaurant" is disgusting.

The IBIS on Commercial Road is a 10 minute walk from the QA centre, and if you can get a room at the back of the hotel (away from the main road) it's not three bad.

The only other suggestion I would make is to book the Thistle at Euston and tube it to your course.

Oh, and a third for that Thai restuarant. I also recommend the S&M (Sausage and Mash) cafe just outside Spitalfields market. Delicious.

Let me know when you'll be there - could well tie in with one of my London visits :)

    SORTED

Booked into the IBIS for the nights of 15th and 16th Feb.

Is anyone going to be about for those 2 night for a wee beerette and a chat (perhaps some eats as well??)

The course in for Microsoft App V or in old money Softgrid. Been using it for a month or so now and it's a pretty decent piece of software.

Going back again on Monday to finish the course as the last one was cancelled after 1 day.

Anyone around Monday or Tuesday night and fancy hooking up for a beer or three?
