I've been trying to teach myself a bit of Adobe Photoshop for some time and finally got around to working my way through some stuff this weekend. Anyway I was playing around with the CF logo and trying out some different variations. So I thought I'd post some of my efforts and see what you guys think.

    Hi Si
I think 1 and 2 look the best, 2 definitely has that web 2.0 sort of feel, of course that could be a bad thing as it's an all to common look and feel these days
I'd try and upgrade the logo whilst keeping the current symbol in play somehow, as the symbol has a history here and it would be a shame to turf it all together, I'm sure you could modernise it somehow though

    Red a bit too angry.
'Cert' in speach bubble reminds me of father Jack shouting 'Feck' for some reason.
3 or 4 good, but 4 gets my vote as it looks a bit like a more modern version of the current one - and that's really what improvement is all about...

    #1 rules

Red is a great colour - and I think blue is done to death nowadays on the web. Of course, you'd need to change the board theme as well to accomodate it, which might be a bit of a pain in the arris!

I like 2 the best. Blue has been the traditional color scheme of the forum since the beginning and I think the red is too much of a departure. Just my opinion, tho.

    3 for me.

I like the look and feel of it.

They all look snazzy, SimonV, so nice work :) 3 is just a preference.

I agree with Phoenix. #2 is good, but the 'broken star' just symbolises CF for me. losing it would be a real shame.

Red is very... passionate I suppose. But its very fired up and angry. Blue is traditionally a 'cool' colour, and tends to be more relaxing. It gives the impression that learning is more... relaxed. Red gives me the impression more that learning is frustrating and annoying, inducing anger. Thats just my impression of the colouring, but its how i see it.

I don't know the reference to the broken star (probably before my time) but I think number 2 gets my vote

would like to see it in red though...... maybe just a try out for the site?

Top left of the page. The CF logo. halfway through, logo that looks like a broken star. Its also the symbol used for posts and threads in the forums (blue for read, red for unread) - or at least, it is on the 'forums' page.

I have to say 1 followed by 2 :) Not sure how the red logo will look against the blue background or is that going to change also?

I have to say that I just realised the 'new' star design reminds me of the Windows flag. :ohmy

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that I don't like any of them. They all seem a little too telly-tubbyish to me. Sorry Si.

I have to agree with nugg here. The one we have now seems to have a flow to it. Which is good because in IT we like to keep moving forward.

You did do a good job on the others Si, but they just lay there like a cheap whore.
