lcd monitor speck

I have a 22" acer lcd monitor which is working perfectly fine except for a speck of dirt which has got trapped in between the glass front and the screen.

it's probably been there for longer than I realise but it's beginning to annoy me now, is it safe to open the monitor up to remove the dirt, or, should I just live with it as knowing my luck I would open up to remove one bit and get lots more in
