    Hello,

I have a HP Pavillion DV8378ea, when i insert the connector from the external power adapter the screen loses its lighting, when i disconnect it from from the laptop the lighting on the screen reappears.

I cant determine whether this is an issue with the power adapter or the battery, does anyone have an idea?

    Thanks for any assistance

    Best regards

Could be your power options, check your settings in power options, right click the battery/power cord on bottom right of your screen. When running on AC, the setting should be set to max performance in all cases

What Operating System are you using? In Windows XP it's Start>Control Panel>Power options

If the option is not there try this:

Press the 'fn' key and the key with the sun on it (mines f7 and f8) if you want to make the screen brighter on power leave the power cord in and press the fn key and 'button with sun on it, with a little up arrow' (f8 on mine) and your screen will go brighter, to make it duller use the button with a sun and down arrow on it(f7 on mine) :p
