I bought a Pc which consists of a quadcore i7 CPU, 8th ram
ASUS motherboard plextor blue ray burner ASUS graphics adapter.
When I boot up the system the keyboard and mouse freezes consistently.

During the POST test it states no keyboard detected although I am able to use it
To select advanced boot up options. When it loads the OS I can't type any characters
Then the system freezes, can anyone assist, thanks.

    Best regards

Are they wired or wireless and if wireless, have you changed the batteries?

    Also PS2 or USB?

You could also look at the BIOS and the options that relate to the USB hubs built into the board. Sometimes there are options specifically to do with Keyb / Mouse support.

Did you put the system together yourself with self chosen parts or is it an off the shelf model?

Have you logged into the system before? Does it get to different points in the startup before you lose the keyboard and mouse?

Have you tried unplugging the mouse and keyboard at the point when it freezes? Have you also tried booting in safe mode?

The system was built by the technicians where i purchased the PC, i already tried to get into safe mode but still encountered the same issue, both mouse and keyboard are ps2 interfaces, i had a look in the BIOS to see if the mouse and keyboard were set i noticed that power to PS2 was disabled which i enabled saved setings and rebooted.

I tried with another PS2 keyboard i still had the same issue, the system has windows server 2008 R2 installed, i tried booting from a windows 7 DVD still had the same issue, i thought of booting off a live linux CD & maybe possibly flashing the BIOS.

Contact them, this may be something they have encountered before.
