So somehow i have a job interview on friday morning for a helpdesk position for an ISP

the recruitment person on the phone said i will have to sit a technical test before the interview, he said it will mostly be centered around ADSL.

now im not stupid, i have done a google search to brush up on some things, but its quite a broad subject and wondered if anyone else has experience with similar tests so i can narrow down what sort of questions im likely to come up against?

    thanks for any help

Brush up on your telephone troubleshooting skills, listening and communication sikills to end users who are not technical. I belief they would test your ability on how you handle a call from an end user through to talking them through basic stuff like are cables from phone socket firmly in tact etc. Best wishes and lets know how you get on:)

well i went to the interview

the technical test was OK, couldnt remember for the life of me what a MAC address was for though haha, my mind went blank.

the actual interview lasted about 30 minutes which i was told is a good length of time

will find out if ive got it early next week

    BUT

then i got home and had a letter from another position i applied for which is more my style, its working for a small company as a trainee support person for their property, more of a hands on job which id prefer, but they dont want to interview me till the 4th of december which is a bit of an awkward time gap if i get offered the other job before hand

    Hmmmm

Well the recruitment agency phoned today, i didnt get the job.

apparently there was nothing wrong with my interview, or my answers to the technical test, i just didnt have experience in the right place when it came to ADSL.

i would have thought a 1st line helpdesk role required little experience as they offered training anyway

but anyway, looks like ill have to try double as hard at the interview on the 4th december
