    Hi,

I have just read through "Daft Lass" intro thread.having looked at the replies as an "outsider" and not someone in the same situation as herself I have to say that it comes across as so obvious (I almost posted on her thread telling her to do as you say) that you have to start with A+,N+ on your own using the books mentioned and all the help needed/given by the forum members. So thanks to Daft Lass for posting and you all for stating the obvious. I'm now going to buy Mr Meyers book (16th Dec) & maybe learnkey disks from Ebay £10 for pre 2006 A+

Thanks for the help (most of which I haven't had yet) :D

    Hi C.L.C,

Pass 2003 before March 31st it works.

    If not, start thinking.

Lerankey disks will help you pass most of the new essentials, with common sense. 602 is slanted the other way. Just a warning, be careful out there.

Hi, thanks. I thought i would get the Learnkey (£5 of ebay seemed a bargain)to look at till the new books come out after Xmas, or would i be doing more harm than good as it will most likely be after March when i do exam.

I'm in a similar boat to be honest. I started learning A+ in September and realisticaly I don't think I'll be ready to take the exam by March, so my plan is to keep on learning the 2003 objectives (as whatever happens it is still useful to know) then learn the new objectives with Cram Sessions and combine that with what I have learnt already and hope and pray that will be enough and that I am not wasting my time

The disks are put onto one DVD which is I guess his "back up" asked no questions. The first thing Mike M tells you to do is go search for discount vouchers on the net, then go book your exam for about 8 wks away to give you the push you will need. Although I have done neither yet

First of all I'm sorry to hear about the job situation, I'm on a 3mth rolling contract and dread the day they it happens to me (hopefully after A+ pass or even N+). Should have done this months ago realy :(

The disk is deff Learnkey. Ask no questions, get no lies. So as far as I'm concerned they are his to sell if you know what I mean

Hope something turns up for you before the end of the month

No, they're not his to sell. Like most other IT content providers, Learnkey owns all rights to the software, and grants you a nontransferrable, single-user license to use the software. Here are Learnkey's licensing terms. Unfortunately, that means he's selling it illegally, and you're using it illegally. Keep in mind that I'm not calling you a thief or a pirate... but I am letting you know what the legalities are in this situation.

I have never been on a forum before this but have to say i'm enjoying it so much I don’t have time to study LOL

Anyway seller advertised the disks as ““Complete CompTIA A+ Plus Certification Suite (2003) CBT””. Which were bought assuming it was all legal etc, but when received they were on 1 DVD disk so to be honest I don’t no

Also why does my picture not show up (feel like an idiot asking as i'm meant to be learning IT)?

There seems to some confusion over this.
I am registered with Comptia Pro membership scheme and they e-mailed me the new cert information which, for deadlines wasn't clear for anyone outside the US.
I sent them an e-mail and CC'd Pearson Vue.
According to Pearson, the 2003 A+ Objectives expire 31st December 2006 in the UK.

Comptia.org has all the details here - http://certification.comptia.org/a/New_A_Calendar.aspx
UK expiry for 220-301 and 220-302 is March 31st 2007.

GTS advise the same here - http://www.gtslearning.com/newaplus/index.htm
To give students 'in progress' plenty of time to finish their studies, the following lists the timetable for retiring current exams:
    UK, Ireland, Netherlands:: 31-03-2007

    Perc,

You are quite right, but cannot understand why Pearson told me you cannot sit the 301 or 302 at any of their UK test centres after 31st December 2006? Must be a mistake.....
