The first blond-haired, blue-eyed Bond ever.

yeah heard about this already...yikes u guys only just got the news over there trip? I thought Clive Owen would be the next Bond...but I can see why they went for Mr Craig...he seems youngish but does have that distinctive look about him and no doubt he will do well...but I still would have gone for Clive Owen...but well done Mr Craig...only downside is Casino Royale is like the first Bond novel mr Fleming wrote so it will be less gadets, less quirky lines but lets hope they make it up with some really nice Bond girls...here's hoping hehe...

Casino Royale as a book is over 50 years old (yikes). I imagine there will be quite a bit of updating done for the re-make of the movie. And yes...I just read about it this morning on CNN.

    Who?
    What?
Craig David the new James Bond?
    Never!
Bond has always had gadgets, but this will be the first time that he's actually been a tool.
Well I gues that answers the question of who will be Moneypenny.

    I know, I know...

They probably couldnt go with Owen because the age issue, Casino Royale was the introduction to bond, a younger model, without the gizmos, the remake, whilst being 'updated' will follow that notion
however a blonde bond is a bit wierd :)

I'm sure it will be fine, it always is :P

What are you talking about, Jonny? :blink
I assume that comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, Phoenix. I thought the Roger Moore Bond films were awful. Of course, it was the '70s and that was a pretty awful decade anyway. :tongue

    Um.
Well, I did a pun of sorts where I pretended to mistake Daniel Craig for Craig David.
Hence the 'tool' description which is of course supposed to refer to a man's private parts rather than a gadget.
Moneypenny would then be Jordan, which was what I was what I meant by that bit.

It's not funny now that I have to explain it.
It wasn't funny before that either come to think of it.

Geez trip, my grandad wasn't this much trouble...

LOL, Jonny. Remember that I'm in the U.S. If any of those references are strictly U.K., the chances are that I've never heard of them. :tongue

I guess I'm just picky. I only really liked two of the Bonds.

I could sort of stand Timothy Dalton. I thought that George Lazenby played Bond so out of character that I could hardly believe I was watching a 007 movie (although Diana Rigg looked great in the film).

Dalton had potential, and his stories were more gritty and realistice.
Brosnan a definate favorite, never liked Moore but his films had an element of fun...
I used to like the fact that wherever in the world they were, M had a comfortable office!

    Sorry Trip. I keep forgetting.
I just picked my least favorite celebrities.
It would be like a combination of David Hasslehoff and Pamela Anderson or something like that.
    There's an idea!
    Hoff for Bond!

    I guess it's a cult thing.
It's firmly british, a little tongue in cheek with some added excitement.
The 'gentleman spy' is a really old concept, but it's nice to see it kept alive.
I'd agree that as a 'spy' film they're a bit naff. You can't go undercover when everyone knows who you are, and he never actually seems to find anything out. He thumps a few people, sh@gs something and before you know it he's in the villians lair.
    Which he blows up.
But it's a package and it seems to be popular, but nothing is to everyone's taste.

BTW, you need a haircut. :biggrin
