    Hi all

Ive not been around for a while as ive been in hosptal with high blood pressure of all things, my readng was 270/160 which im tld made me a walking timebomb. Luckily i had gone to the opticians who inturn sent me to the hospital as he sen something at the back of my eye. I was having severe headaches and sight problems prior to this

I spoe im telling you all this as id like to sing the praises of te nurses in the Royal Lverpool hospital, who basically saved my life. I went in from the opticians on friday and they noticed m pressure was through the roof which i was then put on a trolley and hooked up to a drip to reduce this pressure and also an ECG machine. I was on 15 minute watch as was the seriousness of my condition even thoug i didnt think it was that bad.

Sat morning at 6 am ish i was up having a wee in the cardboard tubs hey provide you with and i then felt dizzy, next thing i know im on the floor with loads of nurses around me. I had flatlined and if it wasnt for the quick thinking and actions of the nurses then im not sure if id be here today.

My whole stay lastd 2 and a half weeks and the care and attention i got while in hospital was superb, the nurses made me feel welcome and safe and reassured me that everything was ok and that id get better. The recent reports in the papers seem to only focus on the negatives of all hospitals, which i think is a shame when the Royal Liverpool nurses were maintaining the highest standards. I dare say the papers have a demoralising affect on some of the nurses and i think there should be a way to redress the balance.

    Hi Welcome back.

Sorry to hear about your illness but hopefully your making a good recovery.

I have bleeding in the back of my eyes and the pressure can get a bit too much but fortunatley mine is linked to having weak blood vessels and touch wood nothing else.

The staff in Hospitals especially nurses are great, what lets them down is they are mis-managed by businessmen who don't care about patients only money.

And lets face it a Nurse wouldnt be a Nurse if she didn't care. thumbs up for nurses :thumbleft

But I am glad your ok mate.

Glad your ok ED, and had fast thinking nurses around you when needed the most. I do not think that nurses get the praise that really do desever. That is one of the most stressfull job that I know of. And those that take it on are breeds all to their own and should be honor more then they are.

Must point out here that im not fullyout of the woods just yet. I have to have another scan in 2 weeks or so as the first one was inconclusive, and then depending on that I may have to have a biopsy on my kidneys. Tell you what though since they put me on these blood pressure tablets, im having the most amazing dreams and even the best sleep ever. They ont make me feel drowsy through the day either and i can also drink on them in moderation of course.

Ill keep you all posted, thank you for your comments.

I'm glad to see that you're okay too mate.

My mother is a nurse and I've also seen it first hand.

It's really nice to see that someone recognises the hard work and dedication that the nursing profession is. :thumbleft
