is this this soon to expire?

    hi,
    i'm interested to possibly start studying for MCDST but was wondering if as this covers xp is it soon to expire and be taken over with a new version that covers vista etc? thanks

    Take it mate, I done think it will expire for a long time yet. Also the vista and 7 exams will obviously be based on the xp ones but just including the changes ect. So it's a good place to start in my opinion.

    Microsoft will stop officially supporting xp in 2014 I believe so the exam will probably retire around then.

    Most companies will use xp long after that time as alot of companies can't afford to change OS everytime Microsoft decides to release a new one.

    so yes you should go for it and consider doing the Windows 7 upgrade exam too since some companies will use 7 if they leave xp instead of going upto Vista.
