Hi Kal, I have just ordered the Mike Meyers book as well as the A+ study guide from Amazon, so I'm hopeful that together they will be enough to get me through the course.

I also bought the Microsoft Windows XP Inside and Out book from MS Press, and reckon it to be a good investment so far. Then again I do intend to self-study the MCDST certification at a later date, so hopefully this will be helpful as well.

Good-luck with the studies mate. :biggrin

Depends. The Meyers book maps very well to the certification but no book can guarentee success. You'd still need to work with the hardware and have a few flavors of Windows to use to study for the OS portion. When I study, I usually buy at least one tome like the Meyers book and then a smaller book such as the Exam Cram2 or Passport series, just to nail down the high points right before testing.

I can also say that when i took the A+, I did well not so much because of what I read but because of what I remembered doing. That's why labs are so important in earning IT quals. You have to actually be able to do the tasks to really be qualified.

In order for me to pass my A+, I bought the Mike Myers "All In One A+ - Fifthe Edition" & Mike Myers "Passport A+" & Exam Cram 2 book, I also used the mock test cd's that comes with both Mike Myers books.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers

Where I went to school at they did the mike meyers all in one with his passport series. I know several in the class passed the A+. However, like everyone else says. We had a lot of hands on exp. Make sure you have a comp to experiment on. :)
