there is a user running win95  and i was trying to get her ip address.

i tried winipcfg , ipconfig and both did not work, thought i should try the latter just for the fun of it...

whats the command for getting the ip address?

if she goes to the web and trys to get her ip, she will get her real address not the internal network one, which is the one i need...

    any ideas?

Have you run a file search to see if winipcfg.exe exists on the computer? Someone may have deleted it, or it may be corrupt.

    Install 2000/XP LOL [IMG]

Check that winipcfg exsists on the machine, if not replace it.

Try this - from the command prompt try "route print" - this will display the routing table on the computer. You will see the computer's ip address in the interface column, along with the localhost address of 127.0.0.1

If winipcfg and ipconfig don't work I suspect that the path value is set incorrectly.

Try opening a command box (MSDOS box), CD to \Windows (or wherever it was installed) and try then.

Another way - from the command line -> arp -a

It will show the arp table, your interface ip will be listed.

In XP you can double click on the LAN connection and then on the support tab, do you get this option in Windows 95?

when someone sends you a file via messenger, you can go in cmd and run a command (cant remember which 1 it is), that command will go you all the connections you have made to and from your pc and then you just work it out from there...

you mean netstat? afaik, that won't show the local ip address but rather the local hostname.
