i would like to know the same thing! They signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement which means they cant tell us anything about the exam so looks like we will have to wait for MS to post the exam outline on their site before we see what is all about!

It never was entry-level, but it was close. From here:

Looks like the experience level did rise a bit with the change in terminology - the new certification isn't going to be the "MCDST" anymore.

Just got the promo code. It works for me for taking the exam in mid Dec 2006 at one of the VUE exam centres.

May I know can I publish & share that promo code here ?

    Please advise.

    Hi certs,

Hope you have got this email with the following exam:

Beta Exam 71-622: PRO: Microsoft Desktop Support - ENTERPRISE

I would be glad to get following info from you at your earliest:

    1. When you pass this 71-622 do you get "Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Support Technician" ???

    BUT IN MICROSOFT:

When you pass Exam 70-622 Pro: Microsoft Desktop Support - ENTERPRISE, you complete the requirements for the following certification: Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Support Technician

    What's the difference between 70 and 71 ???

the difference between 70 and 71 is that 71 is the beta version and 70 will the final exam version...

I've done quite a few betas.
They are free, and you usually get invited by email.
There is a single promo code which is the same for everyone, but they have limited places so it tends to be 'first come first served'.

The actual exams are a bit of a pig.
They tend to contain the entire pool of questions, so there can be a couple of hundred of them. You get anything between 4 and 6 hours to complete them.

The real problem is that you really can't concentrate on that sort of thing for so long, so by about half way through you just want to go home.

The questions also tend to be riddled with problems (hey, it's a Microsoft beta...). I had several questions where the text spilled out of the window so you couldn't read it, or where the answers didn't display at all. There was one where all the answers were the same and several others that contradicted each other.

All in all, it's hard work to pass one - you're better off waiting for the real thing if you actually want the cert. Unless you're just a sadist.

It also takes them about 4 months to send you your results, so you could pass the real thing quicker...

Not sure I understand the question...

My point is that it is extremely difficult to pass a beta unless you really know your stuff.

It is also difficult to find learning material for them as they tend to be based on 'new' technologies.
