As it says in teh title i have an interview in less than 2 hours, so prepping things now. I applied last week and had teh phone call teh day after i emailed my CV in yet teh closing date for applications wasnt until today, should i take that as a good sign?

Its for a Technical support role (read Helpdesk) for a small company providing IT support. The job description says that its for electrical testing software but thier website is for general IT solutions and support.
Looking at the job brief its a lot less than i currently do, so maybe a step backwards, but the pay is around teh same as i'm on now and theres far less traveling involved.

It should be interesting, as i'm also expecting a call into the office at work some time soon to dicuss my current role. But i just feel that with teh current feelinf within teh company, it might be tiem to jump ship, i'm just not sure. Still theres no harm in looking.

I'll let you all know how i get along after i get back.

(looking at this psot, it might be my typing that lets me down lol)

Its funny really, i can always spell the words, but i can never ever type them correctly. Take "THE", i always end up typing it as "TEH" and i mean ALWAYS! i have to go back and correct it in every instance. Now as far as i know im not dyslexic and i can definatley spell THE, i just muck it up when it comes to typing. Think my fingers move too fast to do it accuractly.

Best of luck in teh interview

I think it might just be a bad habit in how you've taught yourself to type?

That's the case with me, I use to always have trouble spelling 'Cei' for example 'receive', due to the majority of words being 'I before E, except after C' but then again.. rambles on incoherently...

The way teh weathers been, you dont need to go on teh Norfolk Broads for a boating holiday!
For me, a holiday is one of those rare things i get once every few years. So i try to get as far away from hoem as possible (normally means a trip to my parents in wales for a weekend!). I must go abroad with the family some time. Ahh well maybe if i can save more money, if i get this job!.

Right off now as it takes 30 misn to get there and its at 3, plus the g/f home in 10....

Good luck. Remember, before you hit "submit", you can always review your work and edit the errors. As I recall, helpdesk work does involve a certain amount of keyboarding.

Unfortunatley, your right Trip it does. I'll never get teh hang of typing, my fingers arent made for it!

Well it went ok, they were impressed with my CV and with me, so much so they had to call teh technical manager in to speak to me! However, i still need to go back for a 2nd interview in teh next week. Also teh wages are a lot lower than i'm on now and there seems little chance of a pay increase with in teh next year (maybe even two). But they are a young company starting out and kept pushing that it be great to get in at the start as they only plan to grow.

So, i have to look at my finances to see if i can afford the cut, and to see if i really want to do the work compared to how much progression within teh role there could be.

you have the same problem as me :D your fingers move to quick but are not accurate. Do you ever get where you know you double clicked but it hasn't registered? or you have typed a word and you know you have typed it but the word has a letter missing?

    That's me.

Good luck with the interview :D

The good news is that you made the short list. The bad news is that, as a young company, they aren't profitable yet and can't afford to offer good salaries.

Start ups can be very exciting places to work. If you can manage to get in on the ground floor of a company that's going places and has a good product, it will eventually pay off when they become successful.

That said, if they tank, your job goes "bye-bye". I know, because that was my situation once upon a time. I worked for a company that had (potentially) a great product, but poor management and marketing sunk the place and I found myself unemployed. I guess committing to any job has a certain risk attached (even big, successful companies lay off from time to time).

    Good luck on round two.

Thats exactly what happend BGL.... I do double click and it doesnt register, i even have teh click speed set as high as i can on my mouse and it still doesnt pick it up. As for teh missing letters, its normally just letters typed the wrong way round. As if my mind says type this T H E but my fingers just send up with teh letters reversed somehow. so it ends up as T E H.... like i realised i missed teh H when typing and go back to type it after wards.
