Hi hope someone can help, I have recently had a new connection in the network connections on windows xp pro. which is called internet gateway. I think its the connection from my computer through the router straight to the telephone line as it has speeds of 4mbs and thats all our telephone line supports :( the connection time is like 2 days 7 hours or something like that. But the point is ever since ive had this connection my internet has been running extremly slow. For example when limewire is opened it shows no internet connection but still downloads previous sessions.

I think it has something to do with windows xps new networking update? But I may be wrong as I cannot find it in add/remove programs.

    Hope someone can help,

    Regards,

Firstly, it's ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). To turn it off, go to the properties of your internet connection, click on the 'Advanced' tab and clear the 'allow other users to connect through this computer' checkbox. Do this for each connection you have listed.

Secondly, Lamewire = so much fail that it will rinse your PC and is probably the reason it;s running slowly in the first place. Seriously - it was ****e eight years ago - it's still ****e today. Get shot of it.

Hi again, sorry still have the same problem. Just an update. I have gone into add/remove programs clicked optional components and uninstalled the networking protocols that were installed. This deletes the internet gateway out of network connections. I then restart my pc as it advised and then went to network connections and set up a home or office network to enable file sharing between my laptop and desktop. As soon as I click it, then it install the networking components once again and the default gateway magicly appears?

This happens everytime I do it. Also when setting up the file sharing it says connect via and unknown Internet conection sharing device or something very similar to that.

    I hope someone can help!

    Regards,
    Dave
