Hi Gents,

At my last interview I got asked firstly... What three words would your manager use to describe you? immediately afterward, the same question, but my friends instead.

Now, thinking about it, as a hiring manager he surely knew the answers he was going to get from every candidate that day and they were "Honest, Punctual and dedicated" or some crap like that. He must have known that each person was going to say that.

This got me thinking, was he looking for the person that said something more honest? or the brutal truth (when referring to the friends one?) surely he didn't want to hear the same bull****?

and to the people that have hired and fired here, if you asked them questions, what would you be looking to hear? Are you looking for the truth or the off the cuff for the record answer of frankly "i'm perfect"?

This should come of use to some people here too going for interviews in case they get asked.

my word, humour? from posters? blasphemy! Time to like it or lump it I think. This isnt a business meeting, its a collection of people with a single unifying interest (IT). If you want dead serious discussion, call a meeting. But then again, even there I would have answered the same.

Besides, I'm sure you are totally innocent of the charge of posting ****e into a serious discussion thread, aren't you. Oh of course. Its not like you are a pot or anything. I'm getting mighty sick of people constructing their very own ivory tower out of papier mache from which to denounce the denizens of the forum. Last I checked, none of these people were blues.

Because as far as they are concerned I know everything about every computer ever....

 

Although I've worked with many wonderful female techies, I've only had one supervisor who was female... and she was an absolutely horrible manager. On top of that, she was NOT a tech... perhaps that was part of the problem.
