this has been asked before, but can't find it anywhere.

I'm trying to load win xp pro onto my microsoft vertual pc 2004
but can't seem to get it to look at the cd, or load from it.

I've got 95, 98, ME, 2000 and 2003 onto it no problem but this
one seems to have stumped me. It has been a few months since
I've used it and know i'm missing something out.

    Help please...................

Haven't got virtual PC on this comp, but in one of the menu's when you start the VPC you have to capture the physical CD ROM drive.

    Ok, a couple of things:

Have you specified to use the physical drive D: in the VPC settings?

I'm assuminng that you've captured the drive.

Can the host OS read the CD ok? It's not on a DVD is it? VPC doesn't seem to like DVD's.

It's not an upgrade version of the OS is it?

What you could try and do is to copy your w2k hard disk image, re name it, create a new VPC using an existing disk boot up w2k and then run an upgrade.
