Congratulations mate. I just bought a new Cannon DSLR with a great macro lense (I love Macro Photography).

So will be entering some comps soon.

Well done on the win mate, blurring done afterwards?

Here's a few I took on my mobile phone when I was in Paris last weekend. Would love to know what you think :)

Samsung I8910HD. Also got a nice 720p Video of the Sun Setting on top of the Eiffel Tower, literally as it disappears under the Horizon which was quite nice. Shaky as **** though because I was freezing my northern nipples off.

Thanks everyone I am still glowing and I have my prize downloaded and installed on my computer. I'll start putting it though the paces tomorrow.

westernkings I am not a pro but I don't mind to give feed back. First I want to say. I am not a big fan of phone images. Just because most of them look like crap. I like yours. I think they look good for what you took them with.

I really like your black & white one. I don't know if it will always work, but I am finding that I can create better b&w's when I have a brighter image and bring the blacks and shadows back in to it myself. If it is sorta dark to begin with you can lose shadows.

Which DSLR & lens did you get? The first thing you'll want to get is some filters. It will help with shooting during the middle of the day. One thing that is helping me a lot is when I see someone's work on flickr I like. I always check and see what their setting were and try to recreate it myself. And always, always shoot in raw. You'll be surprised what you can recover if your in raw and what is gone if you shoot in jpeg. You are going to have such a blast. I love it!

Blurring was done in camera. Here are my settings.
    Exposure: 0.04 sec (1/25)
    Aperture: f/1.8
    Focal Length: 50 mm

    Have you got lightroom yet?

    Hi Mitz,

I just bought the Canon EOS 50D with a 55-250mm digital SLR lens and then a decent maco lense too but can't remember the name off top of my head as I don't have the invoice laying around haha.

Yea, I used Lightroom to edit them images, exported and did some final touching up in PS just to make them right. A good technique for black and whites is to use the same as when your taking them in W/HDR, so take 3 colour raws at 3 different exposure levels (High, Medium, low) and them you can combine them into a single black and white and have far better control over shadows etc.
