    Hello Everyone:
I have a volunteer job in IT for one day a week. :)
Will still be working 5 days a week in my current job.
With some time working at the volunteer job, hopefully I will
    finally get an IT position.
Thanks to all of you for your continued support and encouragement.
If I would only start studying for the networking certification again.

    Congrats!

My 'volunteer' job is manning a 'help desk' at a local computer fair each week. *Very* educational!

Mike that is good news. Showing a bit of initiative goes a long way when you are applying for jobs. Any real world experience is invaluable as you obviously realise!

    Congrats vet,
I'm thinking of doing some volunteer work in Newcastle to gain that valuable experience ticket that so many employers want.So if any one knows some one who knows someone whos willing to take on a keen, willing to learn, newly enrolled mature IT student I can spare 2 days a week. :)

Thats great news Mike, if it's any insentive i started doing that in my workplace a few months ago and it has led on to me getting a three month secondment into the IT dept in the hostital that i work in now, possibly longer. It could be one of the most important things you do mate, stick at it. :thumbleft

Thanks everyone for your encouragement and support. :) This volunteer job is not likely going to lead to employment. The experience, however will hopefully lead to an IT job. 8)

Hey, congrats. I guess at the end of the day, although it may not DIRECTLY lead to employment, it's better than a kick in the jubblies. How did you arrange the volunteer work? I'm trying to do it with my work place, but they're being decidely irritating about it.
