Hi and a Happy New Year to you all

Got a HP 6715b laptop running Vista Business that takes 15 mins to get to the login in screen even if you run it it in safe mode it seems to stick at crcdisk.sys for ages but once at the desktop runs fine


did a bit of googling and this seems to be a problem not just with HP machines and Vista but can seem to find the cure for it

Yep, its a windows update causing the problem, i posted about it a few weeks back. Il hunt it out for ya.

Just checked and this and tried to install the new file and said it isnt for this machine ?

have you tried everything i done in my post, the BIOS adjustment sorted it for me. Also try doing a search for the update number for loads more suggestions.

 

Did you uninstall the previous update before installing the new one?

yip it was rolled back to a previous state and still did it so its going back to HP thanks for your help anyway

 

You could always do a clean install, and dont install that update.

 

You are having a lot of trouble with laptops latley, you must be unluckier than me.
