Hi Guys
Wondered if you could help please.
I am planning to go for Cisco ICND 1 exam and have started styudying using the Offfical Guide to ICND1
I recently managed to arrange for a Cisco Switch 3500XL with a console Cable
My problem is how to use it..
I have plugged it in to my sytem using the DB9 connector on the wire..but Can't go any further..
Sorry guys but I have never worked on switches in my life..but need to learn..

Could you please help hopw to go about configuring it??

I know I know nothing but willing to learn ..

I remember those days, very fun times! wish i had exposure to Cisco kit at work now

 

If you are studying the ICND1 using the official guide, you should be able to find the chapter on connecting to cisco switch uisng console cable.

Is there a specific bit of this part you don't understand?

 

Thanks Daniel got it working..The problem Was with Hyper Terminal not being there...
So used Tera Term to connect my switch via Com port
