Hi folks. I'm currently studying for this exam and I have a Measureup testing pass for the next month and I'm noticing a lot of PowerShell on the practice tests. Has anyone taken this and can they inform me of how much PowerShell there might be on the test? Never really got into PowerShell and I'm wondering if I'm being forced to at this point. Thanks.

Honestly, I'm not sure if I am allowed to say. I would say that while there is not a Powershell exam, looking at Server 2012 itself, you'll notice it features Powershell in just about every Admin tool and task..... Which is great. Performing an administrator task now will usually show you a link to the PS code to duplicate what you've just done in the GUI.

I would recommend that any server admin or similar working on 2012 pay attention to tasks that offer PS code. Not only is it Microsofts supported scripting language going forward, it rocks and is surprisingly easy to read and understand, also helps us VMware junkies understand PowerCLI. I would imagine that knowing the Powershell for GUI based tasks would stand you in good stead for every aspect of server administration..... :)

There's no way of saying how much there will be in the exams because 1) each exam is going to be different in some fashion and 2) the NDA.

From what I've experienced, you won't get away without brushing up on your powershell, and it's Microsoft's current fashionable tool - so if you want to keep up with the curve server-wise, I'd learn (and retain) as much of it as you can, whether it's for your cert or not.
