    Hi everyone,

How long would I have to wait before I hear back from an employer after Ive had an interview with them?

What, in all you peoples experiences, would be the longest times youve waited to hear some feedback?

    Thanks

I've had to wait as long as a couple of months before. That sort of thing often happens when a company is so busy putting out "fires" that they don't have the time to interview all prospective candidates in a timely fashion.

Well, I do know that only 2 people were being interviewed (me included), and the interviews were last week, Tuesday and Wednesday.
    Still no feedback from them!

Would it be a good idea to give it a week, then call them up and ask them how far they have got with a decision?

    Thanks

That would be fine I am sure, just ask nicely whether or not letters have been sent out regarding the recent interview you attended and if not when are they due to be sent out as you are keen to know one way or the other!

Phone up and say you have plenty of offers to consider so if they don’t hurry up then they might be too late! :biggrin

Seriously though, there is no harm in phoning up and asking if a decision has been made, if it’s a close call then if you phone if *might* just make the difference. 8)

    Yes phone up!

In my experience I've found out on the day that I've got the job...apart from one interview I went to when they phoned me 1st thing the next morning - it was due to procedure etc.

I actually emailed the HR lady on Friday and asked her if there had been any feedback for my interview or if a decision had been made.
I got an auto-reply saying that she was away for the day in meetings and would be back on monday with a reply. I didnt get a reply.

The shortest time I've had to wait is 1 hour (first full-time techician's post), the longest time I had to wait was about a year (it was for a civil service post).

Rather then ask how far in the process, wait a week and ask to speak to the person that you interviewed with ie the decision maker and thank them for considering you for the position and that you look forward to the opportunity to be part of the team.

    But your mileage may differ.
