Hi,

I have just started learning SQL and was revising through the CBT nuggets for this exam.

My only concerns were...

How hard will this exam be for me?
Will i be able to complete this in 2-3 months?

I'd have no idea how difficult it would be for you. I guess that would be up to you and your experience level with SQL 2005.

 

Forgot to mention I am a newbie to SQL.

 

Then what do you hope to accomplish by certifying on SQL 2005? Certification isn't designed to show an employer what you WANT to be doing... certification is designed to show an employer what you can already do.

If you decide to go ahead and pursue it, I would strongly recommend that you get as much hands-on experience as possible - you'll need it!

 

I wanted to do an MCSE.. i thought i would start with SQL, and this could help me learn SQL as well.

Am I doing this the wrong way?

 

It depends on your level of experience with Windows servers. Microsoft recommends a year of experience administering Windows Server 2003 in a multi-server environment before pursuing the MCSE. Not just a year in IT, but a year doing server administration.

How much real-world IT experience do you have?

 

I have a decent knoweldge of IT. I have worked in 2nd line support for over a year. And studied IT through college and at degree level.

Other than that I have good programming knowledge.

Am I wise in giving this a shot?

 

I got BTEC national diploma in Computing and a a 2.1 degree in Computer Science.
