Downloaded Exchange 2007 from Technet but the image is 5.7GB and a DVD is only 4.6GB anyone know why it says it's a DVD image when downloading it when it won't fit. Am I missing something?

Double layered DVD is what you need.

You can just extract it and then run the install, no need to burn to DVD.

Sure, though it depends on what he needs it for. (could be for a virtual machine install, then he can just mount the image)

Yup. Sometimes it can be handy just to have a full copy of the DVD on a server just incase something needs to be reinstalled etc.

That's a big DVD image... are we talking about an ISO here?

Mine from the Microsoft internal network is wayyyyyy smaller than this. Honestly I haven't spend too much time digging into what is on the image (I've been concentrating on FIM 2010 as per my job requirements), but mine runs at 2.5 gigs with the x86 and x64 binaries.

I think I need to take a look at the binaries on the technet site (getting my MSDN/Technet license in a bit).

In any case, installing Exchange 2007 will not take this much space. That's just absurd :)
