    Hi All

Just to get a chat going, how did you stumble upon Certforums? I had worked in IT for roughly 8 years and decided I should get some paper to go with my experience. I started studying for the XP Client exam 70-270 and did a google search for XP exam resources or something similar. Searching around this site I found that a lot of people were in a similar boat to me, studying for exams, so it seemed like a good place to learn and I've been here ever since.

Here is my 1st ever post, seems like a life time ago!

    Jim

I joined back in 2006 whilst looking around for 70-271 resources, I'd been in IT a few years but only bothered getting the A± in 2003 . I think I googled it as well (something like MCP forums if I remember correctly). Looking back at my first couple of posts its quite nice to see alot of then replyees are still around today. Feeling a bit like the old guard now.

It's funny because even to this day, if I'm going to go after a certification, I'd still check out what others are doing on CF. MCITP EA next I think so I've used the search on here, its just one of my study tools now.

I was "introduced" to CF by a friend and co-worker, Modey (another member here), way back in 2005.

I had my A+, Network+, MCP credential as well as the MCSA 2000 credential. I believe I was working towards my MCSE 2000.

Google told me to come here after looking for some CompTIA resources. It was the 'self-study guide' sticky that was the first post I ever read.

Naturally I had read the forums for about 6 months before joining the site to add my own little contribution :)

Well it was at the beginnings of my IT career, I was looking for advice about breaking into the industry and this seemed like the best place to give it, found via googly!

There is so much useful info on this site that I defy anyone to not find cert helpful, it has good honest advise for anyone either already working in or wanting to get in to IT and I must say it has helped me greatly! :D

All the long serving members and staff have years and years of exp in the industry and there is no place better place to get that sort of advice than from these people. So anyone reading this after seeing this site for the first time believe it when I say, join join join!

You've achieved a lot of certs since you joined Ken. Its mad to think, when you've posted your trials and tribulations on getting through this or that exam, its helped someone else find a good resource or be aware of the pitfalls you've found. I like hearing good old word of mouth still gets people on here. I've recommended it to numerous colleagues, most of whom are lurkers I suspect. That is one thing that doesn't really compute to my mind. Once I'd found this site I just got stuck in.

Boffy I'm glad you made a contribution mate, it all helps when people are studying for exams or just want like minded people to talk too, or fellow nerds as I like to call us ha ha

You have to give it to Google, they must have sent the majority of members this way I'd imagine. Maybe we should get a poll on the go?

Yeah that's taking things back a while, i-Net+ was an old CompTIA Cert: CompTIA - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I remember those days well, Id be up at 6am working on CF, getting an hour in at lunch time and then spending most of my evening doing the same! Its a good job my partner at the time used to help out on CF too else Id have been dog meat. :)

I think the official release was 23rd June 2003 (Si's joining date, but I'm certain he was working on this way before then).

It was announced on the NITLC's forum and I joined a few days after that.

Ahh the heady days of the chat room, VB's all round and beer instead of rep. We did some IT stuff as well, sometimes!!!

I was googling in 2008 maybe 2007 looking for CCNA courses and such when I found this site. I lurked for a long time, went away, came back then finally registered last year :).

Google has a lot to answer for.

We've all just been talking in our office about places we've worked in IT where everyone would think nothing of drinking 4 pints in their lunch and smoking at their desks etc. Mad when you look back how everything has changed isn't it.

CF is 10 next year Si, we'll have to have fireworks ha ha
