    Hi all,

I have found a portable email client but dont know the pop3 and smtp settings for hotmail... I have read that it cannot be done using an email client other than Outlook or Express, but im sure people have done it..

Does anyone know of the settings?

    TheCheekMaster,

    According to Microsoft...
    ---Start Quote-----
Access your MSN Hotmail account from Microsoft Outlook
To protect our users from the increasing amount of unsolicited junk e-mail or spam sent from MSN Hotmail accounts through Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express, we have reluctantly had to restrict the new use of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express to subscribers.
If you use Microsoft Outlook 2002 or 2003, you can set up a separate Inbox for your Hotmail account within Outlook. This option is currently available for Microsoft Windows operating systems only.

If you have it already set up at home, why not just pull the information you need from there? I haven't used OE for ages but I think it's something like Tools|Account Settings.

Personally I didn’t think they had pop and smtp settings.

The way it works is that hotmail makes money from advertising. If you use a client for your e-mail you cut out the advertising, therefore I don’t think it can be done, as they don't want you to do it.

I know this as a few people have asked me before about setting their hotmail in a client so I looked it up on the internet and that is the answer I got.

I usually tell people it can’t be done.

    Although I could be wrong.
