    Greeting Dudes :D

Well what can i say....Been in IT since the late 80's, trainee mainframe op back then.
I work shift as a Senior Operator, covering AS400,Sunservers ,RS6000, Mainframes & any other network that the company seem fit to pass to the shift ops.
I am responsible for running all mainframe systems, fixing prog errors, schedule running etc & also answering calls from our untrained:twisted: staff on all kinds of network & mainframe issues, we either fix the problem or escalate to the appropite dept. We log calls using CA Advanced help desk.
Been on variuos courses over the years, JCL,OS390 MVS,SQL, Assembler, networks,Apple Mac Administrator etc.

The thing is i have heard rumours that redundances will be with us before the end of the year & it is us on shift who will be bearing the brunt of it:x .So it looks like i will have to get a few tickets under my belt for me to look for another job. So looking at doing the MCDST Course & maybe the CompTIA A+ & Network+ courses.
Is this the best way to go ?.
    cheers
    Daz

A+ and Network+ are two 'general knowledge' certifications and a very good start. With your knowledge you will not have big problems with the two.
MCDST is a MS cert for helpdesk workers. It is basically windows XP.
    Sounds good to me.
    BTW, welcome to CF.

Welcome to CF and I'd advice you start with the A+ and then N+ as to be honest your experience and skillset would give you that advantage when looking for another role.

Remember it is all about planning, the choice is yours as the ball is in your court:biggrin
